Yep, I suck....

Every single day I think......I'm gonna update my blog.
And every single day....I don't get to it!

And today is really just the same......
...I am just too stinkin' busy.

I've been working like a crazy person.
I'm getting ready to leave on a trip in one more day.
The kids get out of school next week, so we are trying to wrap up the year.

I'm exhausted.

I'll try to post something fun and exciting soon!

Feel free to leave me a comment and tell me how much I suck!

JET LAG SUCKS!!! & OTHER EXCUSES FOR NOT BLOGGING!!!

Where Do I Even Begin to Describe my time in Portland?!

The entire trip was surreal!

Yes, I know I’ve done this before. I worked for Kim’s company,
twice before. My first time was in Tulsa back in August of last year. And I can assure you that Kim had no idea before I showed up to work in her booth that I would soon become a permanent fixture!! But, I am so happy that it has all worked out like how it has!!

Kim and I really mesh well together. She’s a completely different personality than me, but somehow we seem to relate pretty well to each other. The things I like about her are her high business ethics, her generosity and her willingness to accept me, for both my strengths and my weaknesses. Believe me, she is seeing all sides of me. When we go to these conventions, we all see the best and worst of each other. Why? Part of it is the incredible amount of time we spend together. We are up at the crack of dawn, so we are ready to work at no later than 8am, usually and we work until 10pm. This is very hard and tedious work. There are so many things that have to mesh perfectly to execute putting together and dismantling this booth, and also the sales days in the middle. In a word, it’s exhausting. But, I loved every darn minute of it. (well, except for when a very full and very heavy box fell on my head!!)

But, aside from that, IT WAS FABULOUS!!!!

Here are some of the highlights for me:

~ Got to see my girlie, Kara! And the sweet thing brought me that cutie-cute scarf.
Although, she did sell it off me. TWICE. And I came home with no scarf.
I think I'm going to be forced to charge her commission for being a walking advertisement!
Ha ha! J/K, Kara.

~ “Officially started my employment with the awesome Scrapbooks ‘n Stickers team!” There’s no “I” in “Team!” Right, Kim?!!? (This woman is unstoppable! She runs her online store, homeschools her 3 kids & is a very busy “baseball mom.” She organizes her design team and store blog, manages her business for her online store and also, travels an incredible amount of days a year to run her booth and teach her classes. She even has an injury right now that should prevent her from lifting heavy stuff, but she insists in doing it, saying “she won’t ask me to do anything that she won’t do herself.” Including lifting the boxes she is not supposed to be lifting!! (she’s real stubborn!) But, for the record, I prevented her from lifting boxes every single time I could!!

Now all of this must seem inconsequential, but when you consider how often people suffer in jobs that they hate. Jobs that make them miserable. Finding this job like this makes me so happy!!!! I love it and plan to do this for a good long time! I am really a lucky girl!!

~I met Lain Ehmann, Contributing Editor for Simple Scrapbooks magazine, as I already mentioned in my last blog post. But she’s such a sweetie, decided to mention her again! (I even ran into her this morning at the airport…) And I'll be doing a *TAG* that Lain gave me very soon!! Hi Lain! Glad I met you Lain! You are so sweet and so cool! I hope I get to know you better and better!!

~While working in the booth, I was doing some “make ‘n takes” and I looked up and there was Ali Edwards! Yep, THIS Ali Edwards. (see book below) As Griffin would say, “Oh. My. Hotdog!!” (oh my, that sure made me miss him!) Anyway, Ali Edwards was watching me work and doggone it, I was so busy I didn’t even get to meet her and get a picture with her this time. (but, there’s plenty of opportunity to do that later!)

Hee Hee Hee......Hey, Ali Edwards, can I show you the Bind-It-All? How about the Glue Glider Max? LOL!! Yeah, right? As if she doesn't probably have every single cool scrapbooking tool known to creation already?!?! I mean, c'mon, it's Ali Edwards, for goodness sake!!!!!!

And, then last night, we were eating dinner at the hotel and she came in. She was staying at our Marriott! (And Lain was, too!) Welcome to Scrap-Celeb central!!!!!

~Speaking of Bind-It-All’s….holy moly, I love this thing!!
I have thought of about a thousand things I could bind up with the nifty tool!

Bind-It -ALL!!!!

I got one of those and a Glue Glider Max to bring home with me! I brought so much stuff home with me! In fact, I had to bring another suitcase home and my original suitcase's weight was so over limit, I had to empty some of it out when I tried to check it!

Which leads me to my sad, sad story from my trip.

So, when I showed up at the airport, I had taken things out of my big suitcase to make sure it's below the weight. I knew it was close, but thought maybe it was under. Nope. Over by 3.6lbs. Bummer!
So, the lady asked if there was anything I could take out to make it below the 50lb. limit.
I was a bit stressed, as I didn't want to pay a dime to send the suitcase home. And the huge line of around 75 people were impatiently waiting behind me to check in, as well. So, I hastily grabbed out my super-cool, hot pink WorldWin Design Team bag and slung it over my shoulder, I wanted people to see it anyway because it is so, so cool. I was planning to shove my purse in it to only have 2 carry on items in security. So, she weighed my bag again and it was now 49. 8lbs. Boy, I barely made it........

Then, I was to go from there and deliver my bags onto a separate screening area to get them checked in to head to the airplane. This was taking so long, I was starting to stress, as I only had 40 minutes to get thru security and get to the gate.

So, I ran to security and stood in the huge lines over there. I was s.t.r.e.s.s.i.n.g.

So, it finally is my turning, I'm ripping off my shoes. Taking off my sweater. Taking the laptop out of the laptop bag. Laying my hot pink bag up there. I walk thru the metal detector and it goes fine. So, I go to the end of the belt and begin redressing. Well, I look over and see my pink bag being put back thru the x-ray machine a 2nd time, then, a 3rd time.

And all of the sudden I realize what the problem is.

When I flew out, I checked this bag because it had Fiskars soft-touch scissors in it.
And a CutterBee Retractible Craft Knife.
And a Making Memories Paper Piercer Deluxe.
And in my haste to hurry and get through there not to miss my flight,
I completely forgot they were in that hot pink bag.

Well, apparently in the eyes of the TSA, these are the tools of someone up to no good.

And the TSA doesn't like them one bit.

So, they confiscated them.
She did apologize to me.
But, it hurt no less.

I felt like an idiot.
I was upset.
I just told her to do what she had to do.
But, I didn't watch. I couldn't.
But, I had no time to do anything different.

It sucked.

And by the time the "security fiasco" was over....
I ran to the gate where they were already loading my flight.

I flew into Tulsa to pick up my 2 youngest children.
I was so tired.
I passed out.

Then, I was to drive home on Monday morning.
And I woke up to sleet and snow.

So the drive home was slower than I had anticipated. But, I made it home at 4:06pm, just 2 minutes before my oldest child gets off the school bus and only 20 minutes before I pick #2 child up from tutoring after school. It was busy......but I was glad to see all of them.

Monday night, hubs and I went to bed early. We were both exhausted.
I missed him terribly. Him holding me was well-received by me.

Tuesday was my slug day. I unpacked part of my stuff. I laid around a bunch.

And today, I had a meeting at the school for child #2 and unpacked some more.
I gotta get my booty in gear and get my scrap work done.
I really want to do it, but I feel guilty doing that before my "house" work is done.
So...tomorrow, I hope to do that while doing laundry!! :)

Missed all of you!!

And I leave again in a week.....

....enrolling Logan for MIDDLE SCHOOL! (eek!)

Well, CRAP!!!!!

I wanted to do a super-duper MEGA post, but I just can't seem to get the time/energy to do it.

~Marinne has bacterial conjunctivitis. Where she got it...I have no idea. Must have been the grocery store, as we have been no where else. (Last week I was swamped with my CHA project, designing it, executing it and perfecting it.) So, I had been no where else EXCEPT...the pediatrician last Wednesday for Marinne's 3 year old checkup/shots. And 2 days later...whammo! She has the EYE GUNKIES/pinkeye!

She looks awful. We have to do 3 drops in each eye, waiting 1 minute in between the drops (ya, like 1 minute is long enough to calm her down before doing it again!) And we are doing this 4 times a day. It's killing me. And so far, it's not working.

~Kids are back in school, so it's weirdly quiet around here.

~I am getting a Fed Ex from my boss at Scrapbooks 'n Stickers tomorrow and I have some last minute projects for CKC-Houston, which is in a week in a half. Guess what I'm going to be doing for the rest of the week!?!?!?! I'll be very busy.....

~Still working on my "Christmas" letter, which has now been converted into a "New Years" letter and at the rate I'm going, may even be a Happy Valentines Day letter!!
Hee Hee Hee!! (would you really expect it to be on time from me?!?!?!)

Ok, friends....off to the grocery store. We have no bread!!

xoxoxo ~ Roxann

What's going on with me?

Busy.

Stressed.

Tired.

My in-laws will be in town on Friday. Trying to clean, organize and get ready for the scrutinization. Trying to figure out how I am gonna hide the fact that I returned the Waffle Maker she got me for my birthday that she wanted me to have.....for the air popcorn popper that I wanted to have! Trying to figure out how to ensure the kids don't repeat things we don't want her to know. (good luck with that delusional thought.....)

Rejoicing.

For a good friend who I finally talked to today after a long week of phone-tag. And I was overjoyed to learn that she's expecting a new bundle of joy by mid-Summer!! Unplanned and not the best time....but still a blessing!! Congratulations!! (you know who you are!! :) That's all your gonna get, because I have to keep this one under my hat for now!!

Brainstorming.

Trying to come up ideas for my CHA assignment!

Migraine.

Came on tonight. Really bugging me. Heading to bed with some meds!

Have a good one!!!

Serious Blog Neglect...

Go ahead.....

...someone should call the "blog police" and report me for serious blog neglect. Because I am guilty, as charged.

But thanks, Jamie, for the shout out that you miss me! That warms my little heart all the way to my little toesies!!! Miss you, too!

And Matt.....I'll forward you the emails. Really, it's all about Erica!! ;)

Thanks for the encouragement FFM and Tam, sorry, I'm updating now!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Moving on........
So, what everybody been up to??? I've been working on my primary goal of getting
the cars in the garage for winter!! Yes, we've already had frost in the morning 2x and our garage is still filled with boxes!! (shut up...don't judge me!! :) So, I've been emptying boxes and throwing stuff away and putting stuff away! It's fun when you find something you've missed or something you had forgotten about. But, man it kills me how much crap we PAID to move 1/2 way across the country. And that's just dumb!!!! But, what can we do about it now?!?!?!
Then, we decided since it was supposed to be 65degrees, we'd throw together a garage sale..... So, we did. I wish I could say it was wildly successful.... But, no. We
only had 10 customers the whole day!!! And the first one came at 11:20am! (we were out there at 7am freezing our butts off!) So, that seriously sucked!!! But, we made about $45 before we hauled off 3 loads to GoodWill.
We still have a bunch of big stuff that went right back into the garage and we loaded about 30 boxes into the attic! Now, that's fun...let me tell you!!!
Then, last night....we went to a hospital auction/fundraiser at a fancy hotel near downtown. It was really nice and we had a good time. Ike looked really nice. I can remember a day when I'd get excited when he'd get dressed up. Now, I get to see
this most everyday. (a perk for me...the news director's wife) He has to wear suits most days..... and I get to enjoy him! He cleans up good!!
And I got to wear my most favorite dress. It's a Jessica McClintock. It's white lace on the top and black chiffon on the bottom. Floor length and super pretty!
But, because I am a mom of 4 and because I rarely do the "upkeep" I should...my toes needed a serious repainting. So...I sat down on the bed to maneuver myself into unimaginable positions to reach my toes with nail polish. And within seconds, the princess was right in the middle of it all! (now mind you, I have tried to paint her toenails before and she adimently refused me from doing so.) SO OF COURSE, when we have somewhere to be by a certain time....she insists that RIGHT NOW is the time to have her 1st ever toenail painting. (something I would love to have on camera...but didn't have time to document....) So, I painted my little lovelies toenails pink and added a little red heart to both big toes. And she loves it! She was so cute blowing on her toes!!!! (so you can bet your booty that I will be "staging" these pics again this week ....and I know you'll keep my secret in the name of scrapbooking!!!) :)
Of course, I wanted to get pictures, but when Logan tried snapping a few for us....the camera battery died. Great! I was po'd! But, what can you do????? And dang it, my hair was nearly perfect!!! (man...this hair cut by Doug Rhinehart at Rhinehart and Company rocks!!! It's without a doubt the best haircut I've ever had!!!!! Ever!!! If you live in Tulsa...I highly recommend him!!! It's more than 3
months old and my hair is still awesome!!! (albeit, longer...)
I'm still working on my project. Remind me to quit being an overachiever!!!
I love it, but it's taking FOREVER!!!!!
So....in the interest of not showing you everything at once....here is one of my WWPDT Submissions...... I LOVE IT!!! (and I really made 8 of them for Jensen's birthday invitations...... I know. I know. Insane! What can I say?!?!
Click on it and really look at the detail.......
Bad Blogger...
Well, kids........I am sorry.
I have been so busy this week!!!! I haven't been a good blogger!
I have been working on so many things....
  • making Jensens birthday invites
  • working on some scrap projects
  • laundry, laundry and more laundry (never ending....)
  • planning for my trip to KC for the Creating Keepsakes Convention.
And I feel like it's only going to get worse as the week goes on.....
....maybe not, though.
Wednesday, August 1, 2007
Yep, I'm still here....
So, I am seriously a bad Blogger these days.....
.....I guess I am just feeling a little overwhelmed in general. I had a hard time getting back into our routine after going to Tulsa for my Class Reunion. I don't know why. I guess I came home tired, overwhelmed and then having to deal w/ the therapist and the stress of that really got to me. I guess I've been in a little bit of a funk.
So, last weekend was real busy. On Saturday morning I went to "weigh-in" at WW. I know you probably assumed it was bad since I didn't mention it. I know it was going to be sketchy since I had eaten what I wanted at the reunion, then I had 2 slices of pizza very late at night. Not the best WW choice, but I was hungry, so I ate it. But, then I was right back on my diet. So, the weigh-in was OK. I was the SAME. I just maintained....and I was perfectly happy with that. At least it wasn't a gain!!!
Then, on Saturday afternoon, Big Daddy took our oldest to his tv stations' "Shred-A-Thon." (This is where they have a well-known shredding company donate their services and viewers can bring sensitive documents of any amount to be shredded.) Anyway, it was sunny, humid and hot and we brought he and L lunch. Then, we stayed and helped him for 5 hours. The kids were perfect! It was a lot of work, but myself and the older boys were able to pitch in and daddy wasn't lonely!
All-in-all, it wasn't too bad! A bit hot, but still not too bad.
But, we came home exhausted!!!!
We spent all Sunday indoors because it rained all day. But, we really needed it!
So, Monday, I went to see the new Psychiatrist. It was almost too much for me. And I came home feeling emotionally and even physically drained. The jury is still out on how I feel about her. I will see her again next week and that should help me decide.
Then, Tuesday, it was back to the original therapist. It went more smoothly this week, but she can still sense that I am a little uneasy. I'm still really glad I didn't back down and I feel good I stood up for myself and big daddy. So, anyway, we made some more progress and I confessed a few other big issues I'd been mulling to her. I felt better, but I am just so tired of dealing with all this crap. So tired of it. So, again, I came home emotionally and physically exhausted.
I am glad I am doing the therapy, but sometimes it feels like it would be easier just to walk away. But, in reality, I know that isn't the case!!! I need to be there.
And it has been raining for 3 days, ruining our swimming time (and my exercising.) So, that's been making me in a bad mood. It was clear today, and plenty hot and humid. But, J had a migraine today....so no pool again.
Tomorrow I have to go enroll the kids in school, along with the parents of 350 other students.....so, that ought to be real FUN! NOT!!!! Then, we have swim lessons.
Why is summer so busy???
Friday is filled with getting Griffin a physical for Pre-K. And then getting all his paperwork and the check for tuition to his new school. Eeek! So much to do!!!
I promise to try to blog a little more regular!!!!
